2012 Lakewood LEAF Night Harvest Festival - Tonight!



 What a year! Today is going to be PERFECT weather for walking to LEAF Night Harvest Fest with your family. We will be swapping home cooked dinner with local ingredients for donations and there will be great music, vendors and activities for all. Stock up on cheese, jams, honey and produce. (More Information on Harvest Fest below)

This is our last LEAF Night of the season but you might want to save the dates for our Holiday City Fresh drop off because this year we are inviting guest vendors and farmers. Those dates will be: Tuesday November 13th, and Tuesday December 18th

Music 
Starting the night off is solo act and Lakewood residentCorinne Noelle. Then stick around for the Brittney Reilly Band featuring Brittany Reilly (Bass, Guitar, Vocals), Brent Hopper (Guitar, Mandolin, Vocals), Peter Dubyoski (Guitar, Vocals) and Ben Rosolowski (Drums, Percussion). From bluegrass to country to folk, plus a little Grateful Dead on the side, this Avon Lake based quartette is sure to please!

Food
LEAF's own home chefs will be cooking up local food recipes straight out of LEAF's soon to be released cook book. Get a delicious, healthy dinner for the whole family (suggested donation of $5)!

Pie Bake-Off
Break out your best pie recipe enter into our annual Pie Bake-Off! All pies should be dropped off at Harvest Festival no later than 5:30pm along with a list of ingredients. Returning Celebrity Judges from WRUW's Maximum Consumptionwill then select winners for the following categories: best crust, most original, best taste overall and best use of vegetables in a pie.

Pumpkin Carving Contest
Bring a carved and scraped-out pumpkin or other gourd with your name clearly marked to the contest table by 5:30pm. This year's contest will include prizes for Most Original, Scariest, Happiest, LEAF-iest and Most Impressive.

Activities for the Whole Family

Hula Hoop Making
Learn how to make your own hula hoop with LEAF's own hula expert from basic home materials. Then take one home with you! All proceeds from the hula hoops will go towards supporting LEAF's local food programming.

Kids Coloring Contest
Draw your favorite part of LEAF Night or color one of LEAF's local food themed coloring pages at the festival for a chance to be published in the Lakewood Observer and displayed on LEAF's website.

Bobbing for apples and more fun activities for the kids!

Vendors
All of your favorite LEAF Night vendors in one night! From vegetables, meats and cheeses, soap and other local crafts, be sure to get out and shop local!  (VENDORS LISTED BELOW) 

LEAF Merchandise
Be sure to stop by the LEAF information table and pick up your official LEAF merchandise. All proceeds from the sales of these official LEAF items, ranging from tote bags to t-shirts to coffee mugs, benefit LEAF's local food programs!

The Lakewood Fresh Stop at LEAF Night is a prepaid program similar to a CSA. Pick up your City Fresh share and/or sign up and pay in person for a holiday share. More information about Lakewood City Fresh Fresh Stop program is available here

City Fresh Holiday Shares:
  City Fresh holiday shares (Family size only) will be available for pick up on Tuesday November 13th, and Tuesday December 18th. The pick up location will be in Lakewood this year (exact location TBA). Please check in at the desk to sign up. 

Geauga Family Farms Organic CSA Pickup  
LEAF is happy to have Geauga Family Farms Organic CSA pickup atLEAF Night. Don't forget that Geauga Family Farms loves to do special orders for shareholders so you can stock up on produce for canning or frozen cuts of meat.  More information at:www.geaugafamilyfarms.org

Fall/Winter share applications for Geauga Family Farms is now available: Winter CSA Application
Attention Fall/Winter shareholders: Fall/Winter share deliveries start on October 25th. Since this is the same day as the Harvest Festival, shares will be available for pick up at LEAF Night, from 5:30 to 8:00 pm. 
  
LEAF Bulk Food Table 
The Bulk Table will have a lot of grain and produce items for LEAF Nighttonight! They are available for purchase now and Adrienne will be taking special orders in a few weeks.  Some of the items she has are: honey puffed spelt cereal, puffed spelt, rolled oats, flax seeds, various beans, popcorn, brown rice, and pink Himalayan salt.  


Barter Table at LEAF Night 
LEAF provides a space for CSA members and home gardeners a place to bring local unwanted produce and swap it for something you need. This is a great place for people who are overwhelmed with their home or community garden harvest. Items on the table at the end of the nightare donated to a local food bank or community meal.
