Kamm's Corners Farmer's Market Opening

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007
Kamm's Corners Farmers Market
Municipal Parking lot at West 168th and Lorain
10am - 2pm (will continue every Sunday from 10am - 2pm through October)

More good local food and produce news as a new Farmers Market opens up in Western Cleveland which promises to promote community interaction by providing entertainment, cooking demonstrations and health education as well as fresh locally produce foods!

Opening festivities:
* Ward 21 Councilman Martin Keane and Kamm’s Corners Development Corporation Executive Director Steve Lorenz will open the market with short remarks at 10:15 a.m.
* Patrick Campbell, former lead dancer with Lord of the Dance, will dance at 10:30 a.m. followed by his class from the Masterson School of Irish Dancing.
* Famed Tremont restaurant Fahrenheit will showcase their talents via cooking demonstrations featuring items available at the market beginning at 11:00 a.m. and continuing throughout market hours.
* At 12:00 p.m., an ecumenical service featuring the leaders of several local churches will lead a “Blessing of the Market.” All are welcome to participate.
* For music lovers, popular local musicians Brand New Hat will bring their brand of bluegrass, folk, and rock and roll to the market from 12:15 p.m. until the market closes.

While the hours are slightly short when this proves successful (and it will) I can only imagine these smaller Sunday fairs will grow and spread. Can you imagine living in a city where every Sunday there is a variety of community festivals to go to? It almost sounds like Milwaukee! (mmmmmm Milwaukee).

Bring your basket, bag or backpack (I usually have my backpack) and do your grocery shopping while supporting local growers, your community and meeting some of your neighbors.
